Accessibility statement

We want everyone interested in fungi to be able to use this website and follow our live online programmes. This statement explains what we do, where we still fall short and how to ask for help.

Our commitment

Fungaris aims to make fungaris.institute and its learning materials usable by as many people as possible, including people who use screen readers, keyboard navigation, magnification or other assistive technologies. We use the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA as our reference and review the site as we add new pages and features.

This is ongoing work rather than a finished state. If something does not work for you, we want to know.

What the website does

Semantic HTMLPages use proper headings, landmarks, lists and tables so that screen readers can announce the structure and you can jump between sections.
Keyboard navigationMenus, links, forms and buttons can be reached and used with the keyboard alone, with a visible focus indicator.
Reduced motionThe animated mycelium background respects your system's reduced-motion setting: when it is on, the animation is stopped or kept static.
ContrastText and interface colours are chosen for sufficient contrast against their backgrounds in both light and dark appearances.

Known limitations

We are aware of some areas where accessibility is not yet complete:

  • Session recordings: recordings of live sessions may not always have accurate captions or transcripts available immediately after the session.
  • Learning materials: some readings, slides and documents prepared by teaching professionals, especially PDFs and images of specimens or microscopy, may lack full text alternatives.
  • Third-party platforms: the virtual campus and the video tool used for live sessions are provided by third parties; we choose them with accessibility in mind but do not control every aspect of their interfaces.

Where these limitations affect you, we will provide an alternative on request.
